Los Angeles, CA – 1/7/2025– Dashboard.Earth and LAZ Parking are proud to announce the expansion of their successful climate adaptation pilot program that supports and rewards Los Angeles-based LAZ employees in recycling food waste and contributing to local climate resilience efforts.

In the first half of 2024, Dashboard.Earth, a leading mobile app that empowers users to take hyperlocal climate action, partnered with LAZ Parking to introduce employees to food waste recycling using green bins and other local compost methods. This initiative addresses a critical yet simple climate solution: keeping food scraps out of landfills to prevent the creation of methane emissions, which are over 80 times more harmful than CO2 emissions.

“We choose to start with recycling food scraps because it’s impactful, easy, and rewarding,” said Gaya Roshan, Founder and CEO of Dashboard.Earth. “But most people don’t know it’s the law in California or that they can put food waste in their green bins to keep it out of landfills.”

Impact on Employees and the Environment

The program has been well-received by LAZ employees. “Employee surveys found the program created a sense of pride that the company was doing something to help,” said Tammy Temple, Head of LAZ ESG. “Employees also responded that their climate anxiety was lowered as a result of getting involved.”

Encouraged by its initial success, LAZ Parking recently expanded the program to its Orange County offices, with plans to broaden its scope further. While the program began with composting, it has inspired engagement with additional climate solutions offered through the Dashboard.Earth app, including real-world activities like a beach cleanup organized in collaboration with Surfrider Foundation.

The Role of Corporate Leadership

Dashboard.Earth is currently in discussions with other corporate partners to replicate and expand the program. “We’ve developed something that is both compelling and practical for busy corporate sustainability and CSR teams,” said Ms. Roshan. “It’s easy to implement, cost-efficient, and tracks the collective impact of employee actions within their communities.”
